I’m not typically in the business of plugging things. But then again I’ve not had anything to shill for. I was asked recently to write a book review for the Glasgow Review of Books, about The Outrun by Amy Liptrot, published by Canongate. It’s a good book, incidentally, and I recommend it. I hadn’t written a book review since high school so it was a bit of a diversion in my writing but an enjoyable one. The review was posted today on the GRB website at See what you think. While you’re there, there’s a really interesting article about Ukrainian literature that’s worth a look. There’s a cracking phrase in it about a book reading ‘as if it were written in three dimensional ink’.
